C-squares (the Concise Spatial Query and Representation System) is a spatial indexing method developed by Tony Rees of CSIRO Marine Research (now CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere) and collaborators from 2002 onwards. The system is freely available for use and is global in coverage. Resources for c-squares are currently available at 2 locations:
- The CSIRO Oceans and Atmosphere c-squares page (online resources and working c-squares utilities including the c-squares mapper), and
- The present SourceForge site, used for distribution of source code and some associated files (shapefiles, mapper source code and more).
- An updated (2020) description of the c-squares system and its rationale, with associated examples and references, is now available via the relevant page on Wikipedia.
